課程概述

This course aims to develop the four language skills of listening, speaking, reading, and writing. By the end of the course, students are expected to have mastered basic Chinese grammar, be able to introduce family members, ask directions, make purchase…etc, and interact with Chinese people in daily conversation. As well as study Chinese language, students will also learn basic information about Chinese culture and traditions.

1. 上課請聽老師說，也要跟同學說話、練習(liàn xí)。
Students should pay attention on what the teacher is teaching, practicing and discussing with classmates.
2. 每次上課要帶課本、講義。
Bring all the materials you are supposed to use when you come to class.
3. 上課的時候請說中文。
Speak Chinese in class.
4. 上課可以喝東西，可是不能吃東西。
Water and soft drink are allowed, but no food is allowed in class.
5. 上課的時候不能用手機。
Phones must be set on silent mode during class time.

1.	Attendance & Class Performance	20%	Attendance 10% 要是你不能來上課，請你：If you wish to be absent you have to: 1. 兩天以前寫email 給老師或是對老師說你不能來。 (E-mail or tell the instructor in person two days in advance.) 2. 缺席10小時以內不扣分，超過10小時，缺席每小時扣總成績1分 (Absences within 10 hours will not affect your grades, but once you absent more than 10 hours, each hour will cost 1 point of final grade.) 3. 生病的話，沒上課的時間可以比10個小時多，可是要給老師看醫生證明（doctor’s note） (Sick leave can be taken for over 10 hours but a doctor’s note is always required.) 4. 上課晚到20分鐘或是早一點離開 20分鐘，就是少來一個小時（-1小時） (Late for class or leaving class early (20 minutes) will be counted as 1 hour.) 2.	Homework	20%	學了一課，就要給老師功課。沒有寫完的人，晚給老師的人，成績是A-~E( 82~1分)。三天以後給老師功課，老師就不要你的功課，也就是0分。(Homework should be hand in after each lesson. If you did not finish your homework or hand in the homework late, score will be between A-~E( 82~1point) .* Late work after three days will not be accepted, the score will be 0 point.*)
3.	Dictation	5%	我們每課都有2~3次聽寫，聽寫沒來不能再考一次。有五次不好的聽寫不算成績。 (We have 2~3 dictations each lesson, but there are no make-up sessions for missed dictations. Five bad dictation scores can be erased.)
4.	Quizzes	15%	學了一課，我們就小考。（Quiz will be held after every lesson.）要是(if)你考試以前請假，你可以在下一次上課考試，可是聽的不能考。 (If you have taken a leave on an exam day, a make-up examination can be taken during next class, but not for the listening part.) ※如果有報告，也算是小考。(If we have presentation in this semester. It also counted in Quiz.)
5.	Midterm exam	20%	考聽、說、讀、寫。Listening, writing and oral skills will all be tested in the midterm exam.
6.	Final exam	20%	考聽、說、讀、寫。Listening, writing and reading skills will be tested in the final exam.
